We attended a fundraising luncheon on October 19, 2006, at the Avison Young Club in Calgary. This particular event focused on Latin America, a region comprising many wonderful, hard working people who face daily struggle amidst incomprehensible poverty and hardship. As guests of JayCap Financial and Mr. Jeff Lastiwka, we were joined by Mr. Darcy Verhun, Grant Thornton Consulting; Mr. Ross Martin, Black Tusk Leadership; and Mr. Drew Thomson, Law Society of Alberta, who also attended the luncheon.

Opportunity International is dedicated to providing the poor with small loans and training so they can work their way out of poverty with dignity. Through the efforts of partners, their mission and strategy is to provide opportunities for people in chronic poverty to transform their lives, create jobs, stimulate business and strengthen communities among the poor.
